THON 2017
Alpha Kappa Lambda prides itself on being an active part of the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, THON. Since its conception in 1973, THON has been providing much needed emotional and financial support to families affected by childhood cancer. Fundraising occurs year-round and culminates in a 46-hour no-sleeping, no-sitting dance marathon held every February. Four brothers of Alpha Kappa Lambda were given the prestigious honor of participating in this dance marathon in THON 2017. Dillon Boggs, Christopher Greggorakis, Nicolas Lord, and Ross Starner made us proud by representing Alpha Kappa Lambda on the dance floor.
In addition to dancing for 46 straight hours, the brothers of Alpha Kappa Lambda have close ties with what is known as a ‘THON Family.’ We, as brothers of Alpha Kappa Lambda, associate with a family enduring the struggle of childhood cancer. From attending baseball games to school plays, Alpha Kappa Lambda is dedicated to doing right by those to whom we care for. Hard work and the generous donations of our peers have allowed Alpha Kappa Lambda to contribute over $10,000 to the astonishing $10,045,478.44 that THON 2017 has raised overall. THON is a phenomenon that continues to grow in size every year. For as long as THON continues to help those less fortunate, the Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda will continue to offer its upmost support.
