Tau Chapter Achieves Chapter of Excellence Status

Every spring semester, the Penn State Interfraternity Council releases its new standards of excellence for the year. In order to receive accreditation from the University, each fraternity must participate in a certain amount of philanthropic events, community service opportunities, and various other on campus activities. Most chapters aim to complete the bare minimum that is required, but each year Penn State recognizes those that go above and beyond these expectations as “Chapters of Excellence.”

Early in the Spring 2016 semester, Alpha Kappa Lambda made the decision as a brotherhood to obtain this honor. The executive board organized a plan, and ensured every elected position knew what was required of them. The brothers of Alpha Kappa Lambda completed hundreds of community service hours, attended dozens of philanthropy events, and finished top 5 in the Homecoming, Greek Sing, and Greek Week competitions. Through hard work and perseverance, the Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda was able to complete our goal of becoming a Chapter of Excellence. We, as brothers, are proud of what we have accomplished and are determined to remain in excellent standing with the Interfraternity Council for the 2017 year.
